Wet cutting rotary mower?

Hi any recommendations on a mower more suited to cutting (and collecting) wet grass. Ideally petrol, rotary with roller, 50cm+.A salesman recommended the Arco Liner, it has a dual cut blade and a largish grass box entrance. Is there anyone with first hand experience of a mower that works well in the wet?

Ditto. We have 4, 2 to use and 2 in rotation getting fixed. However, I wouldn't swap them for anything else as they are so user friendly and always pick up long and wet grass. I've spoken to Viking about the issues and they say that they have been addressed on the new models but unfortunately no new roller model yet.

I've used a Mountfield SP555V which shares a lot witth the atco liner. They are very good in the wet, not to the level of an Etesia though

  • Thanks for all the responses, appreciate the comments! I'll do some research on the machines recommended.

Kubota W821R pro will do it..... I have one and have been using it daily through the last few days deluges.

A clean bag and aftermarket high lift blade are key, but it was still ramming the bag heavier than I could lift and full to the brim despite a good fortnights growth on all lawns today - removing 1-3" growth.

    • Thanks Adam, I'll check it out. High lift blade? Does this provide more lift to the cut grass entering the collector box?

Yes, it has redesigned 'wing tips' and doesn't have the slots and holes of the genuine Kubota 'low noise blade' originally fitted to satisfy noise regulations when the machine is sold new. Its not necessarily sold as high lift but comes through my suppliers as a pattern part at quite a bit less cost than the £29+vat for the genuine Kubota part!

This is the blade I use on my Lawnflite pro (99% the same as adams kubota but not quite as nice colours)

Question for Seth really or anyone who may know about the hi lift blade that he uses on his Lawnflite  Pro -

Do you think it would fit a Honda hrh 536 hx Pro

    cheers

The hole configurations are the same, but the blade sits to high under the deck compared to the standard blade on the Honda Pro's, you would need a spacer of some sort... Cheers
