waterproofs

Hi all, having just got completely soaked again today - i am looking to buy some new waterproofs. I have some old 'waterproof' clothing but it lets in the water after about 30 mins in the rain. So i want to do some research before i purchase anything. What brands are best these days for gardening work - i was looking in the arco catalogue and they have a raingard range for extreme weather (only depicts men though - doesn't seem t be anything specifically for women). Having brought waterproof clothing for walking in the lakes over the years - i know that alot of stuff sayes waterproof, but will let water in. So is there anything out there that is reasonably light, comfortable and will keep you dry for 2 -3 hours at least while working outside? oh, and o.k for us girls? i.e small sizesthx all

  • We use any lite weight waterproof bottoms

For a top we use a heavy hi viz waterproof jacket. This will keep us dry all day.

    Total cost £40 per person

I use Dickies waterproof jackets (about £35 with business logos) and rarely wear waterproof trousers. The jackets seem to keep me dry even after an entire day of rain. I get good feedback from my staff as well.

What I have found though is that all jackets, whatever the make, tend to be best replace every year or two as they get ripped and torn etc.

  • Have a look at Engelbert Strauss
  • I use a Flexothene jacket..bit sweaty but does it's job well and lasts due to healing material from thorn etc etc
