Very small lawn to care for

I laid a lawn september and it was just 5 by 5 metres the lady has asked me to maintain and although I like small gardens I don't like tiny lawns and she wants a really nice lawn.

I am worried my petrol mower will do more damage do you have a mower suggestion or I was thinking hand push rotary any advice?

Thanks no scissor suggestions!

  • Meant to say cylinder mower which I have needs a little looking at, I'll use my mower and see how it goes it will be horrible turning and that's what I thinking of.
  • Thats what I have it was given to me I think it is a bit cream crackered, Thank Colin might be worth getting a new one.

these little things can do a cracking cut, my grandad used to have one when he had a piddly little lawn
  • We have 12” wide grass paths on our allotment that I'd like to mow instead of the strimming I've been doing – but we need a mower with a rear roller so as to ride the narrow paths and I've looked at the Hayter Spirit (£300 or so) but I might opt for this Handy one – it's the only old style push mower I've found that has a roller and that you can buy new – should be ok for the money if kept clean?

I would like to try one of these at work though – this one's a Scotts 20” push reel mower - I don't think you can get them this big in the UK yet?
  • Thanks for the links that great gives me another question ? New discussion

  • All white gravel as that is what she wanted on her20 cm border I did not like it but she loved it and I think she wants Bowling green lawn to entertain on.
  • fake lawn! Job done - no more mowing and delivers what the client wants :-)
  • If she has white gravel surrounding her lawn you'll want something that collect well or grass clippings could start to build up on her gleeming white gravel, a blower could help there.....I would be tempted to buy a second hand electric flymo that collects or some such and leave it at hers.
