Thank you to members of LJN

I just want to add a special thanks to members who have been a huge support and encouragement for me during the last year.In the end we decided to go with a gardener, rather than a contractor. The temporary gardener was extremely good and so in the end the decision was taken to employ him. I know he doesn't have access to the internet, but will be referring him to here if and when he does. Because of the amount of work to be done to bring the estate gardens and flower beds up to standard I am hoping the board will approve giving him access to the gardening budget so he can better plan his work.I have managed to misplace my camera, but I'm hoping to be able to sort something out soon so I can show off some of the works that have been recently done. However that is not what my thank you was for. Some of you have been very supportive in the last year concerning my getting back to work, even though I am not in gardening, landscaping or design.I have managed to get a job at last! From April 1st I will be a community worker working with five local tenant management organisations. The position is only guaranteed for a year, but is a trainee one, so will be doing the first year of a housing diploma. The position is a varied one, project management, consultation, newsletter, surveys, funding applications, research and a host of other activities. As an example I know the remit for one community is to start up projects using the community internet access, including a photography club, homework club, community internet cafe (including finding volunteers and arranging training), promoting the community fund, prepare a consultation strategy for the next phase of estate regeneration, do the annual satisfaction survey and identify potential funding opportunities for retrofitting green energies onto the estate. It is supposed to be a monthly plan, though think that lot is more like three months work considering I'm only there one day a week.Because it is a new position and managers are too busy to manage the position I am expecting a lot of autonomy on how I go about many of the tasks they will be setting for me. At least starting on top of a bank holiday I will have time to plan how I will tackle the various tasks for the first time. Though hope that initially a lot of it will be introducing myself to tenants and starting to get to know them.

  • Thanks Andrew,

Well the last year has been very busy for me, though I suspect no where near as busy as the coming year :) I hope your year is just as busy as mine.
  • Thanks John,

I called you a so and so? Must have been a good thread as I do try hard to keep to topics rather than trading insults with posters. Either way I enjoy reading your posts.
  • Thanks Stewart,

Yes it should be very interesting and challenging.
