stihl kombi extention

ive been using a stihl kombi with a 1m carbon extention its great but can be very tiring on the arms for long periods not due to the total weight of the machine more due to balance point, to combat this im thinking of constructing some sort of counter weight system to aid control and fatigue has any one tryed this or is there a product like this already

Looking across the road I could see a demonstration of how to trim a birch tree using a hedge cutter without any extensions, my wife described it as scary.

  • I've got the Sthil harness and it' pretty good. Takes a bit of getting used too though. It was around £80.

  • this might be of use

  • I’m looking at buying this system , but can’t decide on petrol or the new battery system that’s coming out next month.

was also going to get the harness.

    What would you recommend?

We have had two of the petrol motors and found them to be hard to start after a couple of years, no other petrol, kit ever has done this to us! But I like the system as it takes up,less room in the van so was going to try the battery as the other battery stuff has worked well for us, I think the attachments from the petrol, will fit in the battery?

I had the Stihl harness for mine, and it was helpful but the petrol engined Kombi melted a hole in the plastic basket that it sits in.  I took it back and they gave me a refund straight way.  Like Busy Bee said, we nearly always had hassle getting the petrol one started regardless of servicing.  We moved over to battery last year and the everyday long reach hedgecutters are so much better and we only had to get the Kombi out for the high stuff.  I was going to buy a battery Kombi but we spent then money on a tripod ladder instead and that has been worth it's weight in gold.

Hi Darran i am thinking about a battery hedgecutter to cut vibration out but spent a lot of money on petrol equiment. What i wanted to ask you what ladder did you end up buying cannot make my mind up.

Henchman 12' professional with 3 adjustable legs.  It's the 3 adjustable legs that really make it versatile. Used it on steps, banks and low walls.
