POOLE COUNCILS ARTIFICIAL TREE

Just read about Poole Councils astro turf cone ersatz Christmas tree. Didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. All the obvious bluster about the councils Health & Safety policy, the obvious indignation of not having a REAL tree, sort of flashed up, but actually the fact that it was representative , rather than a phoney copy, left me with a bit of admiration. Maybe it was just the cheek of it! Do any forum members have favourite artificial plants - or do they just appall you?

  • I'm keeping out of this discussion :-)
  • The controversy was too much for Poole:

Reality won through & the arguments for a fake faded away!
  • I dont like fake plant realy, fake lawns are ok in the right situation but I actualy realy liked the tree I thought It was quite contempary, they have been selling smaller versions in the top department stores for a few years now. Saying that I always have a real tree at home, I love the smell.

It is a shame it has made an argument h&S side but atleast it brought it to the publics eye.
  • I never realised it cost that much, thats a total waste of money. Did anyone see the story about a towns tree that was only 6ft tall with a lighting frame over it?

Lit up it looked very good, Unlit however it looked terrible not the best use of £14000. It would have been good as part of the decorations in addition to a real tree but not as a substitute.

No fake plants in my house.
  • Yes Kieran, the ironic thing is the origional one got blown over -the very fate Poole were concerned about in the first place!

All the publicity I hope benefits British tree growers.
