Let's see how good this network is... I need to organise some materials and equipment for a demonstration day at a primary school in Kimpton, Herts, SG4 8RB.It's a rammed earth demonstration (as if you didn't guess) and I need to scrounge about 200 kilo's of dry subsoil (delivered to the school) ideally sieved down to 12mm and with no organic matter etc. Then all I need is to borrow a concrete mixer for the day! These items are required during the first week in March.Come on everyone... it's for the kids!Michael. http://rammedearth.webs.com

  • Kimpton is about an hour away from here. I'm happy to collect and deliver the sub soil if you can source it from this area. There's a ground work company call Seearo (01763 208332) based near here. You could try them.

Depending on whether I'm using it on a job at that time, you can borrow my mixer (I'm sure you will clean it well)

  • Thanks for the local info and mixer offer!

What a fantastic offer from Simon!
  • Anymore local knowledge out there? Thanks to Simon but he's an hour away surely we have someone a little closer to Kimpton, Herts, SG4 8RB? I don't want to put Simon to too much bother.

    It's for the kids!

  • I beleve I'm one of the closest members and can offer the same as simon. I'm about 45 mins away. My mixer is 240v though. What sort of sub soil would you like? Why not ask the school if you can dig up some?
  • Wow! Another great offer to help me out! Thanks very much!

I've asked the school if they can prepare the subsoil from the grounds but they are not sure if their garden contractors are able to do it? So a local firm with spare subsoil could be handy to have on the backburner.
  • School project is go! Thanks for all the offers of help with local eqipment.
  • Let me know if you want to take up my offer or not

  • I will, if I may, regarding the mixer, i'm still hoping the gardeners at the school will sort out the subsoil, and the parents will sieve it prior to my arrival!

I've asked for a parking space for the mixer in their secure garage in case you need to drop her off before I get there or when it's convenient for you.

I am booked in at the school for the 4th March (Thursday) but I reckon you could drop the mixer up to a week in advance. (I'll check before you leave)

Many thanks to you and everyone who offered to help me with this project.

This network really does work and it's on the net... funny that!

    Cheers,
