Lawn School for 2018

After some consideration, I am planning to do a training school in 2018, aimed at Lawn Care.  It will involve verbal training as well as actual demonstrations of machinery, all carried out by skilled trainers.

It will be a pre-cursor to an actual accredited training course to be launched thereafter.

Currently, there are no training courses for lawn care and I frequently get asked.

The school will be aimed at both professional, semi professional and domestic homeowners all across the UK (proposal is to have up to 8 schools across the UK (through 2018)

Is there a vested interest from the LJN members?  Do you use your lawn skills as part of your business and what makes you stand out from the rest?

My book is available as you know, but lawn care is a great community with lots of passion and a willing to further education.

Love to know peoples thoughts..........Thanks

David, you have my interest as the two guys that attended your 1 day course spoke highly of it and would like some of my guys to further increase their practical knowledge.

    Always interested in furthering skills!

Definitely, lawn care seems to be a black art to me, be good to understand the how's and why's.

Interested here too. I just bought your book and I'm really enjoying it.

Hi David, could you clarify what you mean by the statement that there are no lawn care courses available.

  • PRO

OK, so there aren't why don't any of these count:

(I'd like to think other colleges offer similar, but I didn't look)

Plus all the national diploma course in sports turf that are tailored by the colleges towards lawn care,

plus all the continuous learning seminars at IOG saltex and BTME Bigga that are lawn care related.

plus the lawn care training companies that provide start-up training and ongoing, there are at least three, 1 each in england, wales and scotland that I'm aware of.

plus all the seminar days that product companies like Rigby Taylor hold on lawn care products.

I welcome the notion of another course and wish you all the success, but I don't think it's a unique or new proposition.

With your many years in lawn care Andrew you will forgive me if I say 'of any note'
Sports turf as I spent 25 years in at the top level is about playing surfaces not lawn care. IOG is also based predominantly on sports as is BIGGA etc. I'm not talking about sports turf related and please, the RHS.....
I'm not saying it's unique merely of any credence......

So you're saying there are no correct lawn care courses rather than none. Hence my question on clarification. I think I understand now. Thanks.

This is one that has been developed in conjunction with and given by a lawn care expert. It's target is for people wishing to provide a lawn care service.
