Jewsons and pressure treated timber

HiI wonder if anyone has had experience of Jewsons supplying custom lengths of tanalized timber ?I need around 30 6 " x 2" x 4' lengths for a footpath repair I'm doing and I'm getting peeved with my local timber merchants lack of soft skills and general customer care.I noticed on Jewsons website they advertise custom lengths of treated timber but wondered what they were like at coming up with the goods.

  • i have had custom stuff in the past (good few years ago now though) took about a week and was exactly what i'd ordered.
  • Why not just buy 2400 or 3660 length and cut down yourself, it should take 20 mins max with either a circular saw or a mitre saw.

I thought about that but am worried that the ends would not be treated.

(I might be wrong as I only got a CSE grade 3 in woodwork and don't know much about the pressure treatment process. LOL)

  • Jewsons are expensive as are most builders merchans, certainly here in Cornwall. I buy all my tteated timber now from Mole Valley Farmers.
  • Cutting them yourself is going to be the easiest and least expensive option. Use a fungicide treatment to re-seal the end cuts. I use Ensele.... you just apply it with a brush. It also comes in green and brown treated colours, so you should be fine.
