Help to identify a dwarf conifer

Hello all...I hope you all had nice weekends?A potential customer of mine has had a problem with a dwarf conifer and it has died. There are 2 and I've been asked to replace the dead one for one of the same. I'm not up to scratch on conifers and would like to ask if anyone can help to identify it...It's apparently 25 years old and has been in a pot well tended for that long....then moved to it's new home 6months ago. This may be the reason for the death of it's twin...It's 2-3foot tall and I've included a couple of pics...I hope someone can enlighten me???

  • Thanks Dan...now I know what I'm looking for!
  • im about 90% sure its either a Juniperus or a Chamaecyparis. Picea is the genus that looks like xmas trees, the traditional xmas tree is Picea abies.

Just take the pics to your local nusery and they should be able to get one for you, they are quite common.
  • Thought so slightly spickyer than chamaecyparis.

  • I've been looking at various pictures comparing Junipers and chamaecyparis. They both look similar! Although it could be a Juniperus chinensis Ontario???
Conifers really are mind boggling to me...they always have been!
I go to a good nursery so I'll show them my pictures and they'll know what it is for sure...I hope!

    Thanks for the help
