Before this industry, I worked in the electrical industry, but I decided on a career in ground maintenance as I had anxiety issues and checking my work, so I thought this would be much better and help get better.

Fast forward to the current day, I've spent the last 7 years qualifying in this sector, gaining as much knowledge as possible, intending to specialise in the control of invasive plants such as Japanese knotweed, but picking up other work along the way, such as lawn weeds, hard surface moss control and more.

My issue is that after completing my Japanese Knotweed training, I started to struggle with my OCD once more, which relates to intrusive thoughts rather than cleaning or counting, which most people think OCD is. I constantly worry about being sued, poisoning people, animals and wildlife, and causing a significant spillage to the point I haven't sprayed for a long time, sold my knotweed equipment, and basically spend days every week ruminating about doing the thing I'm passionate about, as Ive lost my lust for general gardening.

This all sounds really odd, and I can appreciate that, but even if I were to stack shelves in a supermarket, my OCD would attach something to that line of work. I'm extremely knowledgeable about weeds. They've been my focus for the last 7 years, but Im not sure how to move forward. I did set up a dormant limited company last year as a way to mitigate the risks but dissolved it that same year.

Can anyone offer any pointers, or suggestions, or does anyone else suffer with an anxiety condition such as OCD, as I would love to move on with my business and life.

Blossom Wilt on Crab Appleshttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/blossom-wilt-on-crab-apples2023-09-13T19:17:55.000Z2023-09-13T19:17:55.000ZAdam Woodshttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/honestservices

What magic cure can you all suggest?

My new client has around 50 x 10' pleached Crab Apples down one boundary.... they appear to (we think) suffering from blossom wilt.

Other than basic hygene (which I don't think they have benefitted from in the past), is there a fungicide that may help?

THanks

Adam

Mowbactorhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/mowbactor2023-04-07T21:25:30.000Z2023-04-07T21:25:30.000ZDavid Bensonhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/DavidBenson

anybody had experiance using mobactor i used it last year (2 treatments) and the moss seems more than ever now dont know wether to bother with it again or just use iron this year

Learning plants names etchttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/learning-plants-names-etc2023-01-04T18:28:43.000Z2023-01-04T18:28:43.000ZTerry Ennishttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/TerryEnnis

Anyone have suggestions to learn plants I.e YouTube?

Did you know if you use Professional plant protection products (PPPs) you have to register with DEFRA as a user?https://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/did-you-know-if-you-use-professional-plant-protection-products-pp2022-09-09T21:04:18.000Z2022-09-09T21:04:18.000ZJo Mulletthttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/JoMullett

Not a lot of people are aware but if you’re a business, organisation or sole trader that uses professional PPPs and adjuvants in Wales, Scotland or England you have to register to comply with regulations.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/professional-plant-protection-products-ppps-register-as-a-user

https://www.hse.gov.uk/pesticides/register.htm

New Tech Weed Killinghttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/new-tech-weed-killing2022-03-26T14:13:11.000Z2022-03-26T14:13:11.000ZGary RKhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/GaryRK

Interesting trials taking place and could be useful in targeting outbreaks of large / invasive weeds.

I look after properties where I apply a selective to the lawns, fertilse them infrequently and herbicide treat hard surfaces for weed control. All of that is fairly standard but where I am getting some feedback is when the signage is removed to declare the grass "safe". It isn't uncomon for chemicals to be blamed for everything under the sun but this seems to be occuring more and more frequently of late. Is anyone else experiencing this?

On each exercise the ground conditions and weather are considered for when the product has dried and the signs are removed but I have realised that this is very much due to experience and the general concesses within the industry and training body; there isn't actually a written guideline from the supplier at any point, for any product, as to how long it takes for it to dry and be "safe". I have been approaced by both sides of the fence now; one being very understanding, patient and appreciative of the conditon of the site. The other being one who states that in other parts of the world it is illegal to put anyone other than water on the ground and that for it to be safe for their dog to go onto the grass there needs to be a waiting period of at least three weeks with routine mowing and heavy rainfall.

I have tried contacting our supplier a few times but haven't had any response, ultimately I would like to know of something on paper which states the safety restrictions for the public which we can use as a full and supported response to anyone.

Could anyone offer any advice please?

The products we are currently using are:

Marathon Allround Fertiliser

Xtend Soluble Fertiliser

Praxys Selective Herbicide

RoundUp ProVantage 480 Herbicide

Thank you.

Boris

RIGHT!
