Depends how much you get them to do. You could do some things yourself like payroll and VAT that would keep the cost down. But whatever way for a ltd company i'ts going to be around £1000pa . Some people will undoubtedly get it cheaper but I think that this would be pretty close. I have workes under a ltd company system for over 20years and this is an average figure for me.

Agreed we are closer to £800.00 but we do the vat and use xero to make their life’s easier! Payroll is very simple for us as well...

Most accountants will charge per payslip so I pay around £15 per slip (£60a month  per person if weekly) or £15 per person monthly pay  I offer fortnightly or monthly pay

    end of year accounts £1200-£1500

can get cheaper accountants but I’m happy with the service I get

I was charged circa £800 for monthly payroll 2 staff and end of year accounts. Bookkeeping stayed in house so we had a full set of books to send off at year end.

Problems started when we made mistakes with expense categories, also found time was getting away from us and ended up doing book work at the weekends.

Moved over to a full service, different accountant,  we pass on the paperwork, summary of invoices & payments and accountant does everything. Costs us circa £1150 a year.

Very happy with it, its taken a weight off my shoulders.

Historical accounts preparation & submission is useless to a business except for statuary reporting.

It’s no good waiting for year end to find you’ve overspent or are not profitable.

Management Reporting needs to happen monthly so you can run a business effectively and to me that means, keeping up to date and submitting/discussing your figures real time.

If you’re going to spend £800-£1500 pa on accountancy services, make sure you benefit from it !!!

i am getting little if any feedback  on accounts or on going support our old account when we was farming would sit down and go over all the figues and give there views on how things were going

  • PRO

My new accountant charges £600 for year end and advice, bookkeeper (to be) wants £120/month inc payroll, plus accounting software at potentially £22 month = £2,304 + VAT.  We're not Ltd though.  Hmmm.......

  • PRO

£15 per payslip? Are you having a laugh?

I know it is a long time since I did payroll, but it is not hard or time consuming o do it manually.

    • PRO

‘£25 to mow a lawn, you’re joking Guv, I can get me B&Q mower and do it meself mate - it’s not hard.......’

Payroll, like accountancy is a service you can’t just value on purely a time or a perceived ease basis.

For payroll, you’re leveraging their knowledge, the software, the security payslip, the postage, the year end P60, the P35, any P11Ds, not forgeting having qualify each employee every pay period for work place pension and so on......

There’s an overhead to set up and process one employee, but multiple employees should bring the average price down.

To turn it around, how much would someone charge to replace a 2G switched socket when joe public knows he can buy one down at Screwfix for under a tenner .... and it’s only 2 screws, 3 wires into connectors... it’s easy but get it wrong .........

I’d much prefer to be adding value to my business than doing payroll submissions....and there’s nothing worse than a pi***ed off employee when it goes wrong with pay :)…
