The popular products have now been updated as a new formulation.

Renowned for delivering outstanding results, the GoGreen range is available as long-lasting iron granules (GoGreen Granules) and in liquid form (GoGreen Plus). They have now both been enhanced with the addition of a new dual action wetting agent which utilises new surfactant technology.

The wetting agent formulation adds a further mode of action and allows the iron to be more quickly taken up by the plant by having a penetrant action, leading to excellent spreading effects, giving better coverage on the leaf surface.

The new formulation will appeal to dedicated users of the GoGreen range because none of the original components are removed.

The GoGreen range is available exclusively from Sherriff Amenity.

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 01638 721 888 or visit www.sherriffamenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity

Sherriff Amenity Tackle Turf Disease with Exciting New Productshttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/sherriff-amenity-tackle-turf-disease-with-exciting-new-products2014-10-28T11:56:04.000Z2014-10-28T11:56:04.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

Sherriff Amenity has announced that it is launching some new additions to its popular fungicide packages. The new tank-mixes have been designed to combine fungicides, nutrients and adjuvants, helping to control major turf diseases including Microdochium Patch (Fusarium patch), Dollar Spot, Anthracnose, Leaf Spot, Take-all and Fairy Ring.

Independent trials were conducted at the STRI in order to create and perfect each different fungicide package; which will be welcome news to groundsmen and greenkeepers whose work can suffer at the hands of the diseases.

“Sherriff Amenity work closely with the STRI to identify effective ways of approaching disease control and we were keen to expand on our range of mixes. We conducted a number of independent trials throughout the autumn and winter period last year with protocols put together by the Sherriff Amenity technical team and STRI. After a lengthy process we came up with our desired mixes,” said Joe Kinder, Technical Manager for Sherriff Amenity.

The new packages include the use of copper, phosphites and silicon. With these new ingredients the potential for disease resistant development can be reduced. Recovery time from disease can also be reduced and users should see some substantial improvements to the quality of the turf.

Taking a closer look at the new mixes, LS1 has been specifically designed to target Leaf Spot disease, combining the key active ingredients in Interface, with the benefits of the phosphite and silicon contained in Fossil and is further enhanced by the adjuvant Velocity, which helps improve the spread and leaf retention of the application.

Combatting Microdochium patch are the new MP mixes. MP10 is a combination of Chipco Green, See You – a new liquid copper and the unique adjuvant Velocity. Research revealed this mix to reduce the percentage of disease when compared to using Chipco Green alone.

MP13 combines Interface with Fossil, Velocity and Green Lawnger Pro HC resulting in enhanced support against disease pressure, excellent recovery & fantastic turf presentation.

Trials at STRI revealed that when Headway, a fungicide that contains azoxystrobin & propiconazole in a Maxx formulation, is tank-mixed with the carefully selected nutritional and adjuvant products Fossil, Roller & Green Lawnger Pro HC not only gave a good level of disease control but also improved turf appearance. These products are brought together in the new package MP14.

MP11 combines Headway with GoGreen Plus, a market leading complexed iron to encourage a rapid recovery to disease infected areas.

MP12 combines Astute, a fungicide that contains prochloraz and tebuconazole with GoGreen Plus. This mix has been proven to give outstanding results with high levels of Microdochium patch control.

Many of the active ingredients and nutritional formulations in the new packages are unique and its distinctive package mixes give Sherriff Amenity the edge in the amenity market.

“Based on previous packages and the performance data received from trials at the STRI, along with end user results throughout the UK, we are confident they will be as popular as previous packages,” said Joe.

Sherriff Amenity’s investment in the trials of these new packages certainly is testament to its commitment to the industry and further underlines its forefront position in the marketplace.

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 01638 721 888 or visit www.sherriffamenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity

Royal Jersey Golf Club Sign Exclusive Agreement with Sherriff Amenityhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/royal-jersey-golf-club-sign-exclusive-agreement-with-sherriff2014-10-17T07:49:36.000Z2014-10-17T07:49:36.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

The Royal Jersey Golf Club has become the latest course to sign an exclusive supply agreement with Sherriff Amenity. The three year agreement covers the exclusive provision of fertilisers and chemicals.

With the links overlooked by Mont Orgueil castle and the French coast, The Royal Jersey Golf Club has ‘postcard’ views from every angle. Having been part of the idyllic island for 136 years it is also immersed in rich history.

The club received its Royal warrant in 1879 from Her Majesty Queen Victoria before being converted into a mine field during WW2 when the Germans occupied the Channel Islands; of which the remnants can still be found along the opening hole where two gun emplacements are situated, making this one of the most intimidating first holes in golf.

Ben Blampied-Smyth has the task of maintaining a fine reputation and first-rate course standards, but given the current challenging financial climate, maintaining a course to such high standards is not an easy feat. However, the exclusive agreement with Sherriff Amenity helps Ben receive quality products and vital technical assistance from a trusted supplier.

“We are delighted to have signed a three-year agreement with Sherriff Amenity. From now on all of our products will be purchased from them, which guarantees us fixed prices over a three year period – it’s great for our budgets,” said Ben.

Ben, who holds a degree in Turf Science and NVQ level 4 in golf course management, has struggled to find a compatible supplier during his three years as Head Greenkeeper at The Royal Jersey, mainly due to the club’s location.

“The problem that we have on the island is that we are very limited to resources. A lot of the suppliers we previously used wanted me to pre-order our products and the delivery charges are quite high too. Sherriff Amenity has all the products I use and more. So instead of going to various suppliers on the Island and having to wait for various delivery times, Sherriff Amenity provides me with everything I need. Plus if I order over a certain amount they do the shipping for free which being on an island is a massive advantage.”
As Ben suggests, The Royal Jersey will benefit from volume group purchases and lower delivery costs, but will they will also be provided with a high level of technical support and the latest in new product technology available within the amenity arena.

“Sherriff Amenity provides a great service and products; if I’ve got a problem Rebecca will recommend two or three products and she will honestly tell me the advantages and disadvantages according to what I’m looking for. She will also give me feedback from other clubs that have used the products I’m interested in.”

Commenting on the agreement, Rebecca Turner, Sherriff Amenity’s Account Manager said: “I’m always pleased to help and give Ben advice where I can. We have established a great working relationship and, as with all our customers, I look forward to continuing our relationship with The Royal Jersey over the next few years.”

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 01638 721 888 or visit www.sherriffamenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity

Sherriff Amenity to Offer Fortetub in UKhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/sherriff-amenity-to-offer-fortetub-in-uk2014-10-02T14:10:48.000Z2014-10-02T14:10:48.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

Sherriff Amenity has announced that it is now offering the Fortetub range of twin walled tree shelters exclusively to the UK market. The Fortetub range enhances plant survival on all Landscaping, Forestry and Agricultural planting projects.

Manufactured using environmentally acceptable polypropylene, the Fortetub range has a unique design which creates a microclimate for the plant and with a bevelled top, damage to the plant caused by windburn is avoided. Its twin wall structure allows condensation and reduces moisture, resulting in higher plant survival rates.

Tree shelters of this quality are extremely hard to come by in the UK which is why Sherriff Amenity searched further afield in order to sustain its philosophy of offering superior products to its committed customer base. The Fortetub range is produced in the Province of Huelva, South of Spain, where a dedicated team are responsible for the production of microclimate grow tubes.

“It’s about time that a new shelter should be available to the UK forestry and landscaping market that is well made and, more importantly, great value for money. The Fortetub range come in three sizes; so there is a solution to help all young trees survive in their early years” said Nick Gillett, forestry and landscaping sales specialist at Sherriff Amenity.

As Nick says, the twin walled range of shelters come in three sizes – from the 'entry level' standard 60cm to a 75cm for hare protection and the larger 1.2m for deer protection. They have a weak splitting point down the side of the tube and a flared rim at the top which offers added protection and with long, adjustable cable ties, Fortetub are easy to install.

Fortetub tree shelters are also extremely accessible. Delivered to you in bags of 250 per bag (60cm and 75cm) and 140 per bag (1.2m), carrying them to your work location is not an arduous chore.

It is recommended that a square sawn tree shelter stake is used to support the Fortetub shelter which is also available from Sherriff Amenity.

The Fortetub range of tree shelters are available exclusively throughout the UK from Sherriff Amenity. Craig joins from Limagrain, the largest seed company in Europe.

With an impressive employment history including greenkeeping positions at a string of golf clubs such as The Forest of Arden, The Isle of Purbeck and Leatherhead, Craig landed the role of Head Greenkeeper at Bourn Golf Club near Cambridge, where he oversaw the redevelopment of the greens. His career path then took him to Limagrain where he specialised in the Amenity sector for nearly eight years. It was during this position that he first worked with Sherriff Amenity when he supported the sales team who were selling the MM and Designer range of seed.

“I got to know quite a lot of Sherriff Amenity customers during my time at Limagrain. I liked the idea of having more products to talk to people about; Sherriff Amenity have the best product range for greenkeepers and groundsman in the amenity sector and being such an established company I felt that it would be good move. The more I thought about it I just felt that it was a great opportunity for me. It was an easy decision really,” said Craig.

Sherriff Amenity is one of the UK’s leading turf care and sports equipment suppliers, and as a result Craig gets the opportunity to visit a number of sports venues in his designated area; something which he thrives upon.

“I love getting the chance to see the end user; to find out what they are trying to do, give them advice and hopefully build up a good relationship with them. It’s great to be in a position where I can really help the end user improve their bowls green, golf course, cricket squares or whatever it may be.

“I will also work with schools, landscapers and contractors. It’s a question of seeing people to build up their trust. This job enables me to see such a diverse range of different situations and circumstances and I like the fact that I can see everything which enables me to truly help them,” said Craig.

The East Anglian area already has an existing and thriving customer base and Sherriff Amenity’s Regional Sales Manager, Neil Pullen, believes Craig’s previous employment history will only be of benefit to the company:
“We are absolutely delighted to have Craig on-board. A Bowcom GMX line marker and Bowgrass Supreme Plus paint will exclusively be used for all line marking duties at Bootham Crescent and the club’s nearby training ground.

Head Groundsman Wayne Simpson said that he had used Sherriff Amenity products for a number of years in previous roles in Scotland before moving south to York City: “I’d used Sherriff Amenity products in previous jobs before coming here and always had a good experience with them.

“The previous groundsman here had used Sherriff Amenity, so it made sense to stick with them as we had always had good results. When I told Rebecca, our area manager, we were looking to replace our old line marker; she suggested the Bowcom GMX. We took one on trial and it was great, so we signed up to a three year supply agreement.”

The potential to save money, with a fixed price for paint over the three year period, the convenience of purchasing paint as well as all fertilisers and grass seed from one supplier added to the fact that the GMX gave a strong bright line that lasted much longer than the previous line marker were also key factors in the purchase. “The GMX is also more robust, more powerful and the battery lasts a lot longer – it made perfect sense.”

The combination of the Bowcom GMX and Bowgrass Supreme Plus paint offers groundstaff the ultimate in precision line marking application. The GMX incorporates a number of comprehensive, flexible spray options including fully adjustable line width, central or off-set spraying, protected, quick release spray head assembly, optional twin jet nozzle and optional side marking arm along with a removable 25lt paint tank which offers the operator total flexibility when changing, cleaning or filling.

Benefitting from a reduced viscosity and improved flow properties, Supreme Plus line marking paint remains the preferred choice for high profile sporting venues both in the UK and internationally for producing an exceptionally bright, durable weather resistant line.

"The Supreme Plus paint quality means that I don't have to re-mark pitches. Since using them, the lines have lasted far longer than previously. I also like the fact that the machine has two separate tanks so as well as line marking; I can carry out spraying tasks. I can fit a 2m boom to it for spraying liquids on to the pitch, which further reduces costs and gives me greater flexibility as I don’t need to bring a contractor in.”

Since promotion two seasons ago, the club has heavily invested in a range of turf maintenance machines as well as products from Sherriff Amenity.

At the start of each season Rebecca and Wayne take soil samples before discussing which programme to put in place. A fixed price is agreed for the season ahead which Wayne says has been key to the surface being in the best shape for a number of years: “Since Rebecca came up with the new programme and exclusively using Sherriff Amenity products, the surface is holding up a lot better than it ever has done and I regularly get comments from supporters saying how good the pitch is looking.

"Through this new agreement, we are able to further improve the standard of the pitch. Rebecca is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly – I’d have no hesitation in recommending either Rebecca or Sherriff Amenity,” said Wayne.

Bowcom products are available exclusively throughout the United Kingdom from Sherriff Amenity. This year for the first time Barry Boustead used Evolution5, a coated, controlled release fertiliser from Sherriff Amenity, resulting in the best outfield grass cover anyone can remember and a host of compliments.

Each year Barry gets just three weeks to turn a winter First XV pitch into a summer one for the First XI. It is an intense period of work. In the five previous years he has been at the school; his routine for transferring from rugby to cricket outfield has been re-seed, top dress, spray with iron, and apply lots of fertiliser. It works to a certain extent, but it is immensely time consuming for a solo professional.

The pitch is a showpiece for the independent co-educational school dating back to the 15th century, being directly adjacent to its main building. It is very much a focal point.

On the advice of the head groundsman at Durham University, where Barry had previously worked, he called in Sherriff Amenity’s Mark Robertson to conduct soil testing and check nutrient levels to see what course of action would take the pitch to a higher level of excellence. Evolution5 25.5.8 fine granule spring fertiliser is specifically for early growing season application to fine turf mown above 6mm, and therefore ideal for cricket outfields, especially where sward thickening following winter sports use is required. Urea coating ensures four-to- five month effectiveness, nitrogen gives strong, dense growth, and magnesium means a pleasing season-long grass colour.

“Getting the pitch checked like this and then doing a single application of Evolution5 worked out less expensive than the routines I’d been following,” said Barry. “More importantly, it took up a lot less of my time and the outfield sward is so much better than I’d previously been able to achieve.”

Using a tractor-mounted spreader, Barry said the job took just half a day, applying Evolution5 spring treatment at 35 grams per square metre

“I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly it took a hold, given how cold it was this spring,” added Barry. “A slow release fertiliser that gets to work at speed is a real bonus in school pitch work.

“Pitch conditions are not too heavy and I do a twice yearly application of sand top-dressing to keep it that way. The over winter surface actually wears quite well, though there are some worn areas. The real problem I’ve had has been getting establishment of spring-sown seed, and minimising intrusion of meadow grass. In just a few weeks Evolution 5 changed all that and germination was much more effective.”

During the summer term Barry deals with at least one, sometimes two matches a day on one or other of the pitch’s two tables. In May it staged a benefit match for two of Durham’s top county players, Gordon Muchall and Gareth Breeze. Durham Jets, the county’s limited over side took on a Durham ‘Legends’ side, which included West Indies test star Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara. After the match Barry said that these big names made a point of complimenting him on the quality of the outfield.

Barry already plans to boost the switch back to a rugby surface in the autumn term by applying Evolution5 12.5.21 autumn fertiliser.

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 01638 721 888 or visit www.sherriffamenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity

Sherriff Amenity encourages golf clubs to ‘bee friendly’https://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/sherriff-amenity-encourages-golf-clubs-to-bee-friendly2014-06-20T11:44:20.000Z2014-06-20T11:44:20.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

One of the country’s largest pay and play golf operators, Mytime Active, has made a decisive move to raise its environmental credentials with the introduction of a bee and wildflower package on its courses, which is available exclusively from Sherriff Amenity. Orpington Golf Centre, which opted for the latter, is one of the largest public course areas in the south-east covering nearly a square mile in all and before it was built in the late 1970s was covered by fruit and vegetable farmland. This year’s trip was extremely beneficial for all involved not only as a result of GIS but also the education and understanding that came through additional learning afforded by a wider agenda that included course walks and a further seminar program.

The whole week saw the group involved in discussion and debate and I’m sure everybody learned something new which could be taken back to the UK and considered for use on their own sites. Turf managers can also use it effectively as part of their winter care programme to stave off the injurious effects of harsh conditions and encourage swift and natural spring green-up.

Transition HC is available from Sherriff Amenity in 2.5 litre packs. It is for water mixing and spray application at a rate of 2.5 L/ha between September and April, and re-application over winter may be every four weeks to maintain desired turf colour. He provides course managers with up to date information on products available to them from the supplier. Each course places its own orders and has a representative from the company assigned to them.

“Crown Golf has been in a preferred supplier agreement with Sherriff Amenity since 2007,” said Paul. “An extensive tendering process was entered into prior to finalising our supplier of choice and since 2007, there have been periods of review, but Sherriff Amenity still continue to offer us market leading products, technical expertise, access to cutting edge research data plus a very prompt and reliable service to all of our 25 clubs.”

One of the Crown courses, South Essex Golf Club, driven by its Course Manager Peter Dawson, was recently awarded Golf Environment Organisation certification and became one of only a handful of UK courses recognised in this way for its environmental management. Sherriff Amenity has been working with the Essex course on its sustainability drive, ensuring that it had all the products to ensure GEO accreditation.

“Along with excellent pricing, their professional ethos fits perfectly with our own approach to course management. The relationship goes beyond just product supply for fertilsers and chemicals, but now also includes training and certification in areas such as spraying, mole control and assisting in our senior Course Manager’s to obtain their BASIS certification. We now also encompass the supply of course furniture and grass seed into our portfolio,” continued Paul.

“We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Crown and very much involved in how they keep their courses looking good and playing well,” said Neil Pullen, Sherriff Amenity’s Regional Sales Manager.

“It’s especially pleasing to play a small part in Peter Dawson’s great efforts at South Essex Golf Club. We look forward to supplying whatever products or advice the Crown Golf Group requires for sustainability at its other courses throughout the country and over the next three years.”

Both Paul and Neil hold regular reviews and meetings and work to refine a bespoke delivery of products and services that fully meets Crown’s needs. “I believe our relationship has been good for both parties over the past six years. In what may be perceived as a difficult period for the golf business and amenity market, it has been of great benefit to work with such a reliable and professional partner,” concluded Paul.

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 01638 721 888 or email info@sherriff-amenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity.

Sherriff Amenity Seminar and Demonstrations Get Seal of Approvalhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/sherriff-amenity-seminar-and-demonstrations-get-seal-of-approval2013-09-24T09:37:57.000Z2013-09-24T09:37:57.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

Continuing its programme of working closely with turf professionals, Sherriff Amenity, in association with Bowcom and Everris, recently held a ‘Differences in Fertilisers and release patterns’ seminar and line marking demonstration at Pembroke College in Cambridge.

The aim of the event was to educate groundsmen and greenkeepers on the difference in types of fertilisers and release patterns: conventional, slow release, controlled release and organics, with areas of use for each product and the benefits which was held by Lewis Blois, Technical Area Sales Manager for Everris.

This was followed by an on-site demonstration of the Bowcom range of products and the correct line marking paints to be used on each surface.

The seminar attracted representatives from golf clubs, football clubs, schools, colleges and local authorities.

Kevin Whitby, Marketing Manager of Sherriff Amenity said: "The aim of the seminar was to give the group of attendees the latest information about some of the products available on the market which can make the lives of the users that much easier.

"We had some very positive feedback from attendees, who said they found the day very informative and interesting. The facility is one of the leading sports facilities in the South West since the £1 million grant from the Football Foundation four years ago.

Last year, a further £50,000 courtesy of Sport England’s Olympic Legacy, £50,000 Viridor Credits and another grant from the Football Foundation enabled the construction of four additional natural sports pitches which now see an astonishing 500 league and cup matches and 552 training sessions held each season on the 54-acre site.

The facility is home to 41 football teams, 12 cricket teams and also a number of different sports hubs, so keeping such a large number of pitches in top condition is a testing job for head groundsman Adam Witchell, who joined the Town Council run Centre in June 2012. For regular maintenance of the football pitches at the Centre, Adam relies on the services of Sherriff Amenity for materials and equipment and the advice of its amenity specialist David Evans.

Pitch grass is cut to from 25mm in the summer months to 35mm in winter months to ensure a good playing sward where as many as four matches over a weekend are quite normal. Regular applications at 35gm per square metre of ProTurf fertiliser from Everris has proved a valuable plus factor in maintaining excellent density. The controlled release technology of this product leads to a consistent, regular growth over a 2-3 month period without growth peaks. The uncoated nitrogen portion of this fertiliser allows an immediate response to the turf, even in cooler conditions. The multi-nutrient compound fertiliser component contains four macronutrients all in one granule.

For closed season overseeding in May and June, applications of Johnson’s Prem Pitch seed and Rescue selective herbicide from Everris for the removal of invasive coarse grasses is resulting in the finest grass quality yet for the new playing season.

The Centre tries to see that all the pitches are aerated once a month. Divotting and unevenness caused by play are rectified by using the versatile SISIS Quadraplay one-pass maintenance system, which Adam explains does an excellent job keeping all the pitches looking tidy and always ready for play. Line marking for all of the pitches is carried out by two Bowcom GMX spray machines, which are now sold exclusively through Sherriff Amenity.

“We get over 30,000 people a year visiting and using our facilities here. It’s essential that all of the pitches look good and play well week in week out,” said Kevin Whitehorn, Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility Manager.

“A lot has been invested in the facilities here thanks to the Football Foundation and Sport England, which from October will also be used by Swindon Town FC first team and academy players. We must have a top class, reliable supplier for our pitch care needs and Sherriff Amenity is such a source of not just products but also advice.”

For further information, please contact Sherriff Amenity on 0115 939 0202 or email info@sherriff-amenity.com

For more news and insightful views, you can follow Sherriff Amenity on Twitter @SherriffAmenity.

Fusion Media Selected to Handle Marketing for Sherriff Amenityhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profiles/blogs/fusion-media-selected-to-handle-marketing-for-sherriff-amenity2013-06-10T14:15:15.000Z2013-06-10T14:15:15.000ZFusion Mediahttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/FusionMedia

Sherriff Amenity, one of the leading turf care and sports equipment suppliers in the UK, has chosen Fusion Media (Europe) Limited to PR and advertising activities in the UK.

Formed in 1994, Sherriff Amenity has established a reputation as the industry leading supplier of professional products and specialist advice.
