Spring is a time for renaissance in gardens as they awaken from their winter sleep, bursting into vibrant colours and bringing myriad delightful scents and new blossoms.
It is surely the perfect season to explore the beauty of the outdoors and celebrate the nation’s National Gardening Week, which runs from 10 to 16 April in 2017.
For next year's theme, ‘Help New Gardeners Grow’, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) hopes to inspire home gardeners to gain new green skills and reap the many health benefits of growing plants and being active outdoors.
Throughout National Gardening Week, all four RHS Gardens will host activities to showcase the benefits of gardening and inspire new gardeners to engage with nature at all levels: from the kitchen windowsill to container gardening, alongside many other projects.
The RHS is also encouraging organisations across Britain to get involved and hold their own events, from spring walks to gardening workshops.
Activities planned at RHS Gardens Wisley, Harlow Carr, Hyde Hall and Rosemoor will arm gardening novices with the skills they need to create a harmonious environment indoors as well as outdoors.
With a range of activities and advice available throughout the week, there will be something for seasoned garden enthusiasts as well as complete beginners.
