Global temperatures in 2015 were the warmest on record, according to data published by meteorologists in the UK and US.
The Met Office figures show that 2015 was 0.75C warmer than the long-term average between 1961-1990.
US data suggests that 2015 "shattered" the temperature record by the widest margin ever recorded.
Experts say the record temperatures were due to a combination of El Niño and human-induced warming.

Is their a danger of taking/basing long term decisions on a relatively short timeframe of 'Since Records began" ?
What is that timeframe (150yrs) in relation to Earth's ever changing state since last Ice Age (2.6 million years ago).
Seems to me like looking at long term investments based upon last weeks Stock market.
Also note that more and more references are appearing relating to El Nino effect alongside man made global warming - that was not the case 5-10 yrs ago.
Are we seeing a softening on the Global Warming debate ? I bet a lot of Reseach Studies hope not and therefore don't lose their grants (Cynic in me :)
ps. I am not saying we should not look after our planet, but really some of the debates/ evidence appear so suspect..
