About you and your business
fastgardener is an online and mobile app that helps customers book professional gardeners quickly and easily.
When customers book appointments through us, we will alert the gardeners in the relevant areas - you'll be free to view the job and decide if you want to take it.
Our mission is to help gardeners increase the number of bookings they get, to grow, run and manage their businesses by using technology to help with the administration, client management and marketing.
I started working life as a City Banker, although after 7 years I left to do something more entrepreneurial; I designed and built a funding platform before taking a commercial contract at a large landscape gardeners in South London. There I implemented an automated scheduling, invoicing and customer management system specifically for that business.
I'm experienced in banking, finance, accounting, technology, operations and now landscape gardening.

The HSE isn't really too prescriptive and wanted to make a company policy so we're clear cut on what can/can't be done at the outset and thought having a max height without a platform would be easy to implement - wanted to see if anyone els…"

You're right that customers don't always know what plants will thrive in their garden, and where to place them.
The difficulty with this is two fold, and I'm coming purely from the customers view/attitude;
1. I want these plants 'here'…"
They talked about ending the use of cheques a few years ago - cause of the expense and low use. Will be interesting to see if…"
I downloaded a cool spreadsheet from LJN about working out the hourly rate - unfortunetly I can't find it again!
As Adrian says, other than lots of drive time between bookings, the other big one is 'snagging' on quoted work. Sometimes the…"
Personally, when I'm buying, I tend to go with the guy that follows up."
Is the frame adjustable so they can be used to hold open normal black bags too?"
Great question, and one I think I ask myself several times per day! There are a number of pros and cons between our services, however I think the largest difference is the pricing and charging structure.
Getagardener, CheckaTrade, Rated…"
I can certainly tell you that this will really help with your admin, and making sure there's no income leakage.
The difficulty with these apps is doing the invoicing seemlessly. Phil seems to have found a good one, but Jobber looks the biz.…"
Charge per visit or charge per hour. Been a tough topic. I think there's pros and cons to both. Ultimately though, I think it depends on what the customer is willing to pay for.
Most of the customers like the transparancy of hourly rate…"
