What to do with LJN groups?

Can you please give me your feedback on what you think we should do with groups?

In a perfect world, groups are a great way of keeping respective interests separate from the main forum but...and it's a big but...unless there's a driver such as an individual as group sponsor/moderator or me adding and stirring the content pot, it's hard to keep momentum. If there's no momentum then the groups sit idle and don't get used.

I'm wondering if groups should be removed so that we concentrate on the free and premium forums.

What do you think?

I don't tend to even look at the groups maybe I should but I like to see the threads together. Forum and bog seperate as they are for differing reasons if that makes sense.

If no one is using, why not leave them there, what harm are they doing?

I must admit I don't look at the groups very often, I just look at the main forum and the BOG, unless I think there is some specialist info I'm after then I will look in the groups to see if I can find anything...
  • We're about to dramatically reduce the forum I administer, probably halving the forums to lose the quiet ones.

The danger is someone arriving looking for something specific, seeing that forum empty, and assuming the site isn't of interest to them.
