What Knapsack sprayer do you use?

I am going on the PA6 course and need a Knapsack sprayer.

Currently I have a choice of various Cooper Pegler Knapsack Sprayers for £140 up to £160.

Are these prices reasonable? Are these even good sprayers?

As I am a small person, I don't want anything too heavy.

Can you recommend a good sprayer.

Also need PPE kit. Any suggestions where to buy online?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi Daniela,
We have a great choice of CP knapsacks - there are five different models starting at £117+ VAT.. They are a professional grade knapsack so are built for every day use - especially with padded harnesses. They have a massive backup of spares and some useful accessories, egL: spray shields, lances, 4 nozzle booms all for a variety of jobs.
re: Sizes - they come in 15 or 20L  - these are pretty standard sizes for the industry. The alternative is an 8L Maxipro top pump - ok for spot spraying but a pain for on bigger jobs.

We have some budget priced knapsacks too so all types to suit, depending on your needs.

If weight is a real issue it might be worth having a chat about the Nomix system -  very lightweight controlled droplet applicators

I have added a link to our knapsacks and also to our safety clothing bundles:

  • I bought a clothing bundle from progreen for my assessment.

If you want minimal expenditure for a sprayer the stihl knapsack sprayer is a great buy. I have one and use it for all my total weedkiller small scale spraying.
  • I own a CP 20lt (£130) and a V&B 20lt (£85). The CP is better and more robust and good availability of spares but for the money the V&B is pretty good. Unless doing a large area I only ever put 10lts in them as 20lts is pretty heavy.

Buy cheap, buy twice i reckon

  • I don't plan on doing lots of spraying. Just need one for the PA6 assessment.

Thanks for the replies. I will check them out.

    • Get a classic, the series 2000 are crap.

    • I've  CP5, a CP15 and CP3(20litre) sprayers.............. I always keep the CP5 in the van filled with round-up for spot-treating weed growth on hard surfaces, beds etc. Its a great little sprayer for that task but I feel it would be completely unsuitable for spraying any largish areas.... lawns.... hard surfaces.....though others might disagree!! You can't keep the pressure up without putting it on the ground to pump it up. The pressure goes down from the moment you start using it whereas the knapsack maintains a constant pressure as you are able to pump it up as you go along. I can't see it being acceptable on a course as it just wouldn't be possible to calibrate it accurately. I'd go for the CP15 if I were you.

  • why not get a budget knapsack if only for an assessment - although perfectly usuable

I have both a CP and one of these KS16

  • Tbh I bought 2 cheap yellow ones from amazon about 14 months ago and they're doing me fine. One for complete weed killing and one I've used for feed. What is the difference between these and the more expensive ones, better pumps?

      • arr see the straps i have covered thanks to years playing with cars and retaining many of those awful seatbelt pads.

        • Good idea Rory

The basic straps are awful - thankfully the copper pegler evolution has a padded harness with a waist belt too - the KS16 doesn't have a belt which means the knapsack moves when you're pumping the last bit of liquid out.
