Wet Days

What does everyone in this business do on continous wet days when they can't get outside for work. What about the winter months.I have often thought of being like a ski instructor and having two jobs-one for summer and one for winter.Anyone want me to teach skiing?!

  • Every given opportunity i will update my package ie, risk assessments for mortar and screeds or catch up with labeling and itemising product ranges, e mails, tools in for servicing, sketching, suck information from the vast range of plants books, continue teaching myself vectorworks, bring forward consultations (with a little help from my clients)etc etc, constantly seeking to improve my practice

Cant offer any help with the skiing situation, but i could offer help with a steady snorkel dive in the warm waters off Bridgetown, Barbados

    Good Luck

  • Now that sounds better.Barbados is somewhere I am very fond of.Been going there for 20 years. Anyway, dreaming aside, I agree it is a time to catch up on all the things one doesn' t have time to do when working.

  • At the start of last week things were that bad I decorated the up stairs hall way (2 years in the waiting !) I tend to just juggle stuff about and work as much as I can when I can, so weekends are used etc..

I have lost more days this year than last though...ah well that's weather for you ;-)
  • ive been really very quiet cos of the snow and bad weather, i was also thinking going to austria every year as im a keen skier, might be somthing to look into being a ski instructor, dunno if ud make much money though, prob more for the fun of it! im off skiing on the 20th whowwwwwwwwwwww
  • The last few weeks have been fairly disappointing and frustrating as we have been unable to start on a number of jobs mainly due to H&S concerns and the bad weather. This has been the quietest February that I can recall.

However all has not been lost as the work can stack up if only our cash flow could as well!

Been busy getting the back office side of the business sorted and preparing for the start of the season. Actually this has been ongoing since mid December and has really paid dividends for generating a lot of work for 2009.

Using the “free time” to network particularly on the commercial side of the business and hopefully we will get more work over the next few months.

I am concerned with the vast amount of coffee that I am consuming and beginning to wonder if this is the reason I can’t sleep.
  • I alway clean and service my Tools, and any maintenance to our own house!

lway prefer to be workin tho! I hate snow now
  • We work all year round, rain, hail or snow. The guys get kitted with the best gear right down to wooly socks and thermal gloves, and we have a canopy to do wortar work in the rain - no excuse for not working !
  • Us southerns are all too soft! :-)
  • yes there's alimit in below freezing temperatures, but so far we always find something to do.
