Green becomes Orange - Viking to be rebranded as Stihl

Changes afoot in 2019 as the Viking name & products will be rebranded as Stihl worldwide. We’ll start to see the first changes around Feb/March 2018 as some cordless mowers appear in the UK in Orange.

So a marketing led initiative, but I wonder if any mechanical / product improvements / manufacturing location changes will happen ......?

Possibly a sales drive aimed at the cordless domestic market , who wouldn't want to own a Stihl mower and use it on a weekend ?

  • I guess it is inevitable but the upshot will be an increase in the cost of spare parts and the restriction in buying from any distributor on line. Currently it's possible to purchase a Viking mower from wherever in the uk you chose and have it delivered to your door, none of the hand over business that Stihl insist on. For those who have not owned Viking equipment in my experience the cost of spares are very much lower than Stihl or Honda etc, I would estimate at least 50% cheaper.
At 70 I think it will be my last year so not worrying about it.
Unless the wife says otherwise of course !!!!!

Yes, I wonder how it will sit with Stihl’s online sales policy ?
