Viking or Honda Izy?

Hi All,

Our 3 year old Viking 655G has decided to break down, metal handles sheered off and various other bits and pieces which probably isnt going to be cost effective to replace. I can't moan, its been in constant use for 3 years hasn't been any bother. I love the viking for collection in the wet and its our lightest mower. It runs along like a Honda roller, and a couple of Toros.

Now my options are get another one, or a Honda icy which I've heard goof things about. Both around the same price.

Anyone used both and could give an opinion?

  • I use an Izy(536 I think), as my roughcut mower. It puts a decent finish on the bumpiest of lawns. It is absolutely reliable, starts first time every time.......but, its not great in the wet.

  • Had one viking, handle sheared every few months, wheel bearings on the drive wheels wore out every other month and the exhaust bolts sheared regularly. Not used a honda but would not touch a viking if I got one for free

Why not a 7 series Viking that'll be a lot stronger?

Looking for something lighter that can be used on smaller sites, the toro and honda roller are around the 7 series weight and they are a pain on smaller sites
