Been looking into new vans my self recently and am interested in the 'Finance Lease' option. Small ish deposit and lots of options at the end of the policy if you want to own or renew the vehicle. Im not VAT registered so anything that avoids paying the VAT as a deposit is what i'm looking into. Very tempted with an offer i've been going through with Vanarama but not made my mind up with using a brand new van for what can be a pretty mucky trade.
Seat covers are a must. Leaf blower full blast through the cab for a quick clean. Sane for the rear
just be aware with the contract hire, that when the contract is up and its time to hand it back, they go over it with a fine tooth-comb. every little knock scratch, scuff gets charged for, even though its a working van. i speak from bitter experience!
You should be given an 'Wear & Tear" guide as part of the contract showing what is acceptable and what is not. Strongly recommened your read it when you get your vehicle and not when you are about to give it back.
Mine was quite clear, fair & simple. All checks were assessed against the Guide in my presence. I was recommended to put aside an 'addtional' month's worth of hire cost for a full restorative valet/touch up at the end of contract - that resolved many potential problems.
I reckon you need to asses your work type etc, some sections of our industry are 'dirty trades' and need special consideration when hiring any type of vehicle.
Would I go that route again ? Yes, and I have.
strangely we didn't gary and that was from a Nissan dealer. you can guess there was a bit of a bunfight on that one!
After checking out the info here and doing the numbers I've decided to go for contract hire. After pricing things, Im currently paying around £450 P/M for my 7 year old transit tipper, this is everything from the cost of the van, AA cover, maintenance etc. Ive just signed up for a contract hire transit tipper costing around the same per month only its a brand new van.
The old van is going to auction next week.
What has helped is being vat registered as it would be out budget if I wasnt.
