Tools Stolen from Van

So this morning was woken up by neighbours knocking door to tell me van door was wide open. £2,000 worth of Stihl tools gone, Hedge cutter, Chainsaw, Combi and attachments, Blower and various other bits drills etc. Police and forensics at a loss as to how it's been done as no sign of forced entry and now face a battle with insurance. Company who say they exclude theft from van unless there is sign of forced or violent entry. If anyone in Lichfield/Staffs area gets offered anything can they let me know please or if anyone has any advice regarding insurance company would be really helpful. Many thanks Lee at CDK Landscaping

Lee, this will get Tweeted from LJN to its ~11k followers.

I've also Tweeted it and I am sure others will as well.

It's a gutting start to the new month but hope you get some better news in the near future.

    • Cheers Gary really appreciate it.

    Bad news.
I'm surprised you got police forensic team out.
    Not sure regarding insurance.
    Hope you get sorted soon
    • Cheers mate, yeah forensics were out within the hour, must have been a slow day!

Lee, if Forensics were out that quick, I'd suggest you were not the only one having been "done over.

They may well have outher outstanding instances or have a good idea who they are looking for and want proof.

        • Have heard there was another van done in the next Street last night too. To be honest forensics lady was not great as she said she had not seen this before where there is no sign of forced entry, a quick Google and I have found many instances of this happening with ford transits and even a video on You Tube showing how to do it! It takes scum seconds to ruin what has taken years of blood sweat and tears to build up!

Sorry mate. Sadly this is common in our next of the woods especially with transits. Fight with the insurance as this is known problem!

I know this won't help now but list your gear on arbsafe website.
Serial nos etc as police are supposed to check it with any recovered gear

Again sorry, it's hard to deal with it but do what you can.

Out of paranoia I have attached two deadbolts on my vans side and rear door, welded the bulk head shut, I park it as close to my wall as I can get the rear doors and I've just bought a cctv camera to record everything! I'd be bloody heart broken if some motha.....sorry moron.... took my kit. Chances are for yours are that it will not end up down here but if it does or I'm offered cheap kit I'll inform the plod. Good luck.

I think this kind of thing is one of the few advantages of having a pickup! You are forced to put stuff away properly each day!
