I have the newer K4 model, ex contractors mower, paid about £250 for it, stripped the roller, lubricated it and it has run pretty well for the last year.
The mid handle join is always coming loose, I say is, actually was...has an extra pair of bolts through them now.
GXV engine isn't it?
All said it is a really old machine, 1999. My thoughts are that it may have been used once a week, start using it for work and it could cost you a fair bit of cash to keep running. Maybe better off looking for a newer model if you have £500 to spend.
A quick and effective fix for loose, split handles on Danarms and Hayters are two hi quality hose/terry clips across the joint area (2 on each side). Works well without compromising the handlebar tubing.
If you have a failing lower/bottom handle mounts on a Hatyer cast ali deck, there is another quick & cheap fix costing on an extra couple of Hayter clamps. I'll try an photo one in our unit.
just had to google terry clips we call them jubilee clips are they the same thing ?

Also works on spreaders (especially for rock salt which knocks 7 kinds of ..... out of handles/bolts).
I sometimes have that sort of day
