Last evening I saw someone advertising 35 rolls of turf which had been delivered that day for £25 - I snapped it up... it turned out he had ordered too much..... "35 rolls over, he must have a big lawn I thought". I arrived this morning at a small estate house, I guess the garden was no more than 6m square. He had ordered well over twice what he needed, because he "didn't know how to work out how much he needed"!! Some had done his neighbours lawn, and this was what was over after both houses garden's had been fully turfed.

OK.... my veg patch at home is now being turfed over at a bargain price, but really... this young bloke and his wife can't work do a straightforward area calculation!!!

Then came the cracker.... he said "I was going to lay artificial grass, but the quote came in at over £7,000" - remember we are talking a brand new small estate house, with a level garden. Am I alone in thinking that someone was having a laugh quoting him that much, or is that what people pay???

My sister had a quote for artificial grass and quote came back at £30K for 150 M, of course I don't know what spec and they might of picked up that she would be a pain..... but I opened mu eyes when she said....
    • That is a ridiculous figure! Even for a good quality artificial grass it shouldn't have come to more than £6K for 150M.

Sounds like the home owners had worked out the dimensions for the artificial turf themselves as well.

Years back I fitted a kitchen for MFI the client, one of my kids maths teachers and her brother in law a MFI assistant manager measured the room and got the dimensions wrong, she then got stroppy when I had to alter things to make it fit. It nearly got to the point that I was going to point out her inability to use a tape measure and do simple sums, instead I stood there quietly and let her mutter away in a world of her own.

    Andy.
