As long as you can reach the full top width of the hedge, you'll be fine. I very rarely use mine as I get a better finish with the "ordinary" cutter. The HS45 has a shortish blade so you're obviously going to need a lot more moves of the ladder.
I started up myself this year and had a cheap einhell combi cost £150 and turned out to be garbage to be honest, the hedge cutter attachment smashed all the gear cogs hitting slightly thicker stuff. Bought a cobra multi tool with cobra engine from my local lawn mower dealer for £250 and to be honest 3 months later so far so good, only problem was the air filter cover isn't the best but nothing a zip tie hasn't sorted. having said that it like thicker stuff. Also got a 2 year warranty with it as my dealer says when i take it back i'm just a domestic customer as far as he's concerned. Personally would buy stihl if i could afford it but i do like the cobra one so far.
