Stihl Batteries and the cold

Anyone having trouble charging their AP100, 200, 300 batteries this weather?  I put one on charge as soon as I get home and rotate them over the course of the evening, so they are all ready to go the next morning.  The last couple of days I have had a red light on the battery when I've put it on charge after being out and about all day.  Sometimes they still charge, sometimes they won't until they've been in the garage a while.

Li-ion batteries have both a charging and usage temp range. Outside of those ranges I think the electronics control their usage and assume Stihl’s batteries are the same ?

I thought we might have trouble when it's really cold but it's been about 2 degrees last thing today.  I might have to knit them some mini jumpers for when they are in the van.

We find the Stihl Batteries are more troublesome in the cold and have no problems so far with the ego batteries although the Stihl charged anyhow?

Not had any problems here but I charge them indoors.

I do the same, I also keep the batteries inside the cab of the truck so they don’t get much chance to get cold

Is that cause your always sitting in The truck with the heater on mate???? ;-)

I understand that 5 degrees is the minimum temperature recommended, batteries left in vehicles overnight are particularly at risk of not working.

Yes Derek, I keep them in the garage overnight, I think they have just got cold in the van during the day.  As there are already three of us in the van there isn't really room to keep them in the front.  I will look into some sort of covers for them.
