Spon's Landscape Price Book - Suggestions for this years content - Forum

Dear Group

I'm busy compiling this years (actually the 2012 version) of the Spons landscape price book which will be published in September this year. I am looking for suggestions for new content as we always try to keep abrest of new products and processes used in the industry. The costs of most commonly used operations are covered but I would greatly appreciate any content ideas from LJ forum readers. What would you like to see cost analysis on?

Please reply to this group and any suggestions not already contained in the book will be included. For those who are not aware of Spons, - it is the landscape industries cost guide book that attempts to inform landscape professionals about the cost of every single operation used in our industry.

So far ideas for new inclusion include more variations on swimming pools,resin pointing costs, petrol interceptors and mature hedges in more variations than we currently carry.

Re Addagrip- No you are quite right but the book aims to price the market leader of each product type rather than compare products. I assume Addagrip to be the market leader. Addagrip supply us with a material price and we add on the labour hous to spread the material on prepared surfaces much like is your detail. (thanks very much for that by the way). It was helpful -but still no free book I'm afraid

Sam, does the latest book cover Resin bound surfaces & professional irrigation etc ?

It has for quite a while now. In the form of sub contractor applied Addagrip type surfacing and various models on domestic commercial irrigation layouts including all sub tasks succh as trencing pipes controllers spriklers etc. What sort of things in both of these categories would you like to see more of?

Sam there are many more specified resin bonded and bound products than addagrip,which imo is vastly over priced.

Is the Addigrip akin to the Bound or bonded gravel surfacing ?

Re: Irrigation - its something we want to get into and I do need to go back and check out what I've seen in the full & minor Spons Landscaping books.

I just know I struggled recently when a client asked for a ballpark figure for irrigation - more likely my lack of knowledge :-))
