Are the contracts really yours to sell Dan? Has your client signed anything to say that contracts can be transferred?
I think, what you're thinking of is an introduction fee between your client and the proposed new contractor.
I guess, if you can get a prior agreement from your client to find a new contractor then all should be well.
As far as value is concerned, one month's revenue may be fair.
The idea is to make things seamless for my client, arrange the site visit and quote, give the contractor my client's insurance/invoicing requirements and just hand it over and put them in touch so the new contractor can get their bank details to the client without any other change.
