Scheduling apps/software

Hello,

I am new to this site - looks like it will be very helpful!
We are trying to find a more efficient way of managing our crews schedules - what software/apps/etc do you use to track maintenance jobs?
Thank you,
Kathleen

    Hi Kathleen,
Welcome to the site, hope it can help you out.
Scheduling software has been mentioned in the past, please see:

Scheduling work: What methods do you use?

And I'm sure others will pop in and post replies.
    All the best,
    Craig

A subject close to my heart ;-)

    I believe there are three main contenders with robust, scalable solutions;

Realgreen : US software, available in UK from Verdant Software. Used by some UK lawn franchises. Desktop based.

Qxpress : Canadain/US software, available direct from Alocet in Canada. desktop or cloud based

Jobber : US software, available direct from jobber. Cloud based.

There are then a large number of other US solutions for field service companies - some very large packages or smaller niche products.

Very little robust UK/EU software around.

We run Qxpress and have trialed Jobber.

Qxpress has historically been a great, customisable solution with excellent reporting. Has great Quickbooks integration. Has been taken over by Marathon Data, with little updating since.

Jobber is rapidly gaining a good reputation with some great features and well suited to the always online environment of smart phones & iPads etc.

Some on here actually use Jobber and they are a LjN member.

Firstly, I suggest you do a needs analysis to see what you need before you get sucked into buying.

Happy to answer further questions and others will be along to add their views - I am sure ;-)

One things for sure on LJN - you'll generally get a lot of feedback and viewspoints.

Ps. There a number of posts on LJN you may find useful - do a site search - top right hand corner of forum screen. It will bring up matching / relevant posts...

I use Jobber would be happy to answer any questions you might have about it.

I have been running with it since June and have found it to be very good.

    Hi Chris

I currently pay £22.50 per month for the basic service plus an ad on for chemical tracking.

This is what the form looks like, you can email it to the client with the invoice if needed...

  • Does Jobber do any of these?
1/ Show a list of jobs on the crew supervisors smart phone.
2/ Show what jobs are close to each other when making a list of jobs for the day or week
3/ Can the Crew Supervisor record the start and finish time for each job on a phone app
4/ If there is a phone app, will it automatically prepare and send an invoice
5/ Will the phone app automatically take payment for the job from the customers credit card when the job is completed.

From the evaluation we did; Yes, to all except #5, although that is achievable in a different way (ie Paypal). Also, you can use 3rd party payment systems such as Payleven (see LJN sidebar =====>>>>  )

If you look above at the Screen shot of the options, it shows all the main modules.

    Unfortunately there isn't an app...

You need to have internet access, but these days you can get that from a smart phone & tablet.
It was discussed a couple of weeks back here

Questions 1 - 4 have a look at the jobber youtube page

Question 5 - Yes you can set it up to invoice from the phone.

    5. You can add Stripe to the package, i don't have it enabled (yet) so I'm not 100% sure how that works.
