The Eliet model scarifiers are quite small from what I have seen.
Aerator will always be fairly big due to what they do.. I know the aerator that I hire in is fairly large and heavy
Perhaps too late for this season and not so much a point on size, (although we did once run Kangoos and they weren't really large enough so I do feel your pain), but I'd ask why you are thinking of purchasing fairly pricey equipment rather than hire it? We have a good relationship with our local hire shop and hire petrol scarrifiers and aerators for the couple of weeks of the year that we're undertaking autumn lawn care. There's not only the initial outlay that is avoided, but maintenance costs, storage and depreciation don't need to be considered. We ensure we have decent quality machinery that's ready to go, and our clients pick up the costs easily (with a small profit for us as a bonus).

Would agree, in your early days or when trying a new aspect to the business cash flow is tight and to purchase on day 1 costly equipment can be a bad move.
As the business becomes profitable, then look again and see if the figures make sense.
We do a limited amount of lawn care and have some equipment but hire in an Aerator. By batching up the jobs we can make good use of it and stripe the cost over the various sites
