So looking for a new mower next year 18-19 inch roller that can pick up wet grass. I went to a dealers that are supposed to have etesia lawnmowers for sale I got there and all they had was one ride on... I said I'm looking for the etesia predestrian mowers he said what the £2500 ones I said no not the 21 inch I would like the 46 pro with the added rear roller.... He said that's an expensive way to stripe grass and they are aimed at contractors mainly why not go for a Honda pro roller... I was like I don't have much faith in roller drives plus it's a £500 fix when they go wrong on the Hondas quite expensive, he was like well the etesia arnt cheap to fix and it's how you transport them.. I said well I have mine stepped down in the van, like I'm trying to justify myself... So getting back to what I want I said I like the fact it's a 4 wheeled mower with the added rear roller, also that etesias pick up well in the wet... He said well you should t be cutting in the wet and they arnt advertised as that either, no manufacturer would say to cut in the wet... I was like well there is only so many hours in the day even in the summer you can get due... He was like well that's because your cutting grass in the morning... But I said I have some lawns under the water table that don't even dry out even in the summer so what do I do about that?? So he then proceeded to say it's how I'm cutting, that if the air flow isn't good then it will clog your obviously cutting too short, or blades arnt sharp etc etc so I was said well I cut higher in wet, sharpen my blades every three days and wash the bag daily but it still clogs up in wet... So he said he will pass my number to an etesia rep and will get a phone call, I guess he doesn't get commission on them or something but I can safely say I won't be buying or going back to that dealers not going to mention where it was I'm not malicious but won't be parting with any money there!

  • let me guess, your talking about b*****m's in Norwich.

    • How did you guess...
  • I have to say if they also sell the green stuff that isn't Viking they seem to get some sort of kick back/comission. Hence not wanting to sell them.

Since I spoke with Ian from etesia and had a demo. I was put in touch with a chap from my local dealer and he would sell me one but, I still got the hint that he wanted to sell me something else :/

Perhaps as its not a popular item they might not have such high margins on them. As I can get more discount on a Honda/hayter/Viking/toro than I could for the etesia

I wouldn't let it get to you mate, he's not an operator of the equipment, he is only a salesman, and most salesman know sweet stuff all about the actual operating abilities and faults of the equipment they sell, I have heard many different salesman tell contractors that a Hayter 48 pro has great wet cut collection, really?? Are you taking the pi**......... they really have no clue....
    • Agreed I was like what planet are you on???

    Hello Ryan

Please send ne your contact details and I will get Ian Collington our ASM to speak to you and sort out something.

It stikes me that some of the comments below, are completely true and dealer staff can get focused on what they know best or possibly puts the most in indiviual pockets. We do not offer kick backs on pedestrian mower sales, as the margins are tight. Mainly becuase we do not mass produce product in far flung countries, we concentrate on professional tools for professioanl users and the one thing we have always focused on is machines that cut an collect in the wet.

Any saleman that bothers to listen to us when we undertake training, should know that. Maybe our traning needs improving as well something for me to think about.

Good luck an I hope you get what you want

    Regards
    Les

    • Les you beat me to it. Ian spoke to me this morning and asked me to do the same thing. It's a shame dealers let you down
    • I had a phone call today and was very happy with the service I got from a different salesmen from the same dealership he was very helpful I gave him a list of questions as he doesn't deal with the etesia had to ask Tim and rung me straight back 10 minutes later with all the answers also said when I'm ready to purchase he will arrange to have the machines I would like to purchase for me to see before buying I think I just went in on the wrong day and spoke to the wrong guy. Very happy with the service today. Looking at one of the 46 models either the duocut with variable speed, pro 46 Honda or pro 46 kawi, and rear roller attachment not looking to purchase until May time next season just wanted to have a look at them but obviously there wernt any in the showroom.
      • I have the duocut 46 with kohler engine fantastic light and good price :)
        • Yeah my john Deere is 68kg so will be a big difference has the same engine as the top 46 pro kawi 6hp good mower all in all but as you can gather in small gardens can be cumbersome, very qwick with 8 speed settings, leaves good finish but doesn't fill the bag with wet grass and needs constant cleaning underneath but ideal for bigger cuts in summer 4 wheeled so no stripes either... Hence why I'm looking for a durable but smaller/lighter mower that can pick up well in wet and sounds like the etesia mowers tick all the boxes also like that there is no blade change for mulching which I have to do on the john Deere just been asked yesterday first time to mulch the guy didn't want to pay for brown bin or waste disposal so I said happy to change blades until May but can't wait until I have the money for the etesia will make my life so much easier!
