Resizing scale from A3 to A2

Some clients have asked me to produce a garden plan to get their building work through planning. The plan they currently have is 1:200 on A3. Since I work on A2 I asked them to resize the plan to A2 which they did. But now I'm not sure if the 1:200 scale is still accurate. Should I get the original A3 document and take it to a printers to make sure the scale is accurate for A2? Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks

Alex

  • Alex the scale of the original should not have changed, only the size/orientation which it is produced at.

If you are still unsure take a rule and measure several lengths on the A2 and A3 versions and if the relative scale of the lengths is the same, this confirms the original scale of 1:200 has not been altered.

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for your advice Ray. I only have the A2 version unfortunately. I've measured the cars drawn on the plan and they're coming in at 6-7metres long which sounds a tad long so I think the scale must have changed.

Never scale from a copied plan, especially if contruction is required.

If done by a commercial photcopier then most will have options such as 'Original size/ratio or 'scale to fit' option when copying (similar exists on a laser printer) which if not checked can alter ratio by a smll amount.

Either get a prime copy at required scale or if it's mainly for soft llandscaping, reverify scale.
