regular gardening

im looking at garden maintenance pricing and wondered how others work this out over the year for non direct debit clients to incorporate the extra time spent in clients gardens in autumn /winter compared to other months of the year. do you spread the costs over the year  ie so clients pay a little extra per month to address the balance of extra time later on in the year? and if so how do you calculate this onto a client say joining you mid season so ongoing payments are the same ?.. at present its easy enough for clients who pay by direct debit as i lump in everything carried out over the year and time required to do so then spread payments over the year, but its the ones who pay as they go do you charge them say extra when it comes to autumn tidys and winter pruning above and beyond when it reaches that time of year . only problem i find with charging separate is some clients expect this as part and parcel of the service even although some gardens i price at say 30 mins  feb-oct in autumn i am in there for 2 hours clearing leaves... just interested how others work this out to non direct debit regular maintenance clients

  • oops sorry meant to place this in the bog group - cant delete. but re published in bog group

  • I must be doing it wrong............... I spend less time on the gardens in the Autumn/Winter...... particularly when it's cold like today!.  I don't actually do "Autumn tidys"  and find it much more satisfactory to keep everything "tidy" all year round.......... If you're only spending 30 minutes on a garden in the Summer, I'd imagine you're not doing much more than sorting out the lawns? I'm sure you could easily balance things out a bit more so you do more in the Summer and put you're feet up a bit in the winter:)

    • hi graham no this is mainly aimed at gardening only not inc lawns, but i cant very well do collecting of leaves in summer hence the autumn tidy as done through autumn months when leaves fall. but glad to say feet up mid dec - now :) just planning ahead
