Re-training

Hi Guys and Girls.I hope everyone's well.I have a question i am hoping you can help with.I am just starting a college course (level 3 extended diploma in horticulture, city and guilds) I am a little bit windy that I won't be able to find work on completing the course. The course covers a number of topics. I am liking to find work when finishing as a heritage Gardner or work in land scape gardening.as I say I am a bit worried about finding work. Is this a big gamble or will I be ok and be able to find work?I am based just outside of Norwich in Norfolk.thanks in advance

Hi James, why not go out and see if you can find work now? Then it can only get better once you're qualified. There's plenty of work in Norfolk, I live near Watton.

    • Hi Jim, thanks for coming back to me and thanks for letting me know there's plenty of work about it really puts my mind at ease. At the minute I'm just trying to save up some money to cover to mortgage for a little while. That is a very good point though if I get cracking now it will pay off in the long run.

      Cheers
  • Hi James. There's lots of work out there in peak-season and customers scramble to find a good reliable gardener as there aren't really that many of them about.

Just make sure you know what your costs are, do good work and be reliable and word will get around. There's also a couple of apps out there that can provide gardeners with bookings, some regular work some ad hoc. but worth checking out.
