Quickbooks - self employed

Hi all. I just signed up for the 30 day trail for quickbooks -self employed, as I am sick of fannying about with excel and want a something to take the pain out of my accounting. The thing is it is asking for access to my online accounts, and this freaks me out a bit. Is it safe? (Or as safe as any online thing can be) I understand that the system needs the info from me, but I get jittery if anything asks for access to my accounts.

  • Ah, I just noticed I can use downloaded .csv files, so I guess I don't need to add my accounts.

Was going to say, I'd be wary of this also...

I let quick books into the business account it makes life easier.
It will pull different spending and file them in the correct place after you tell it the first time.
For example fuel spending I tend to buy all my fuel from the same place so it knows that £75 from she'll is to go into fuel expenses.
If I buy some from another garage I tell it and it remembers.
Sometimes it just gets it right on its own.
I do keep money down to a minimum in the business account though, as soon as I can it goes into business savings.
Buy quick books from pcworld as its usually about £10 for the year.
