  depends on what posts & rails you will be using, oak post & rails, round post & half round rails, morticed posts & chestnut rails, what size posts you are going to use, how many rails high?

  Hi we were going to use round posts and half round rails or weather top square posts size doesn't matter and 3 rails

  £13 a metre including labour ???? Are you paying them for you having the priveledge to build it then ?

  i would guess with out looking at the site i would price approximate £32 per metre but as above surely if you have done this kind of work before then you must know how to price it to make a living, just work out how many post and rails you need, and what you want for doing the job, (easy)

  Even easier; any good fencing supplies will take your requirements a give you a costed materials list.
  
  Add in possible delivery charges, consumables and iron mongerey + plus markup + labour, back divide by 270 to get your average charge per meter.
  
  You should know off the top of your head two key internal rates - your break even rate & your desired earning rate. NO ONE else knows these, nor should you use anyone's else rates.
  
  If not, make it a late New Years resolution to work them out. There a plenty of posts on LJN on how to do this......

  Linear metres as defined by OP above (ie total costs+labour/270 = fully costed price per metre).
  
  Useful for later reference, if fence length changes etc

  sorry but i still do not get the divide by 270, total cost of materials (x amount) + my labour (x amount) where does the 270 come into effect????????????

  my cost per metre on that equation is working out at £ 5.18 per meter ?

  I always add the cost of the materials plus the labour on how many sections I can erect per day plus concrete = price

  then you can divide that price by the length = cost per metre

  please explain the divide by 270
