Thanks for getting back to me. At the moment I do not actually have a working product, the research I was looking to carry out was on your current methods of working. However I have started to establish some concepts and making simple prototypes, so it could be that in a couple of weeks when your job comes around that I do have a testable product. If that was the case it would be brilliant to get your feedback on it.

I have used a point master before and other pointing machiness on the market. I have to say that for a small domestic job you cant beat a pair of knee pads, a plasterers 10mill pointing trowl and a small length of your clients hose pipe. (I always mix a mixers worth of dry mix and store it in bags in the shade. I mix a buckets worth with water and use this up and then have a break.
By using just wet mix and compressing the morter a strong and lasting finish is achieved. It can even be rained on within hours. IN the summer you can hose it down every hour or so. By letting the pointing not dry out to quickly it cures harder.
The problem I found with the point master (espesially on rough edged slabs) is that the mix has to be quite sloppy to work. This can cause a mess on the stones. Also the inevitable voids under slabs can cause a problem.
Sorry to be negative.l
I'll help you, to save time all questions and photos could be relayed as attachments, with clarity being gain you can tell me exactly which shots of the pointing procedure you require
Failing this you are more than welcome to come to Devon for the day and have a go, theres alot more to it than sand and cement. Weather / last weeks weather, temp, ratio, product
