Hi Guys

I am currently looking at getting some new power tools for my garden maintenance setup, can anyone recommend anyone online that are reasonably priced and have used before?

Thanks in advance.

If the online seller is dispatching the equipment, such as mowers, in the manufactures packaging then surely it has to arrive requiring final assembly and a PDI?

There was a guy in town with a cycle shop, selling and repairing bikes. It got to the stage where he was making more money assembling and carrying out the PDI on bikes that people had bought cheap on the Internet than actually selling bikes himself. Because they received a bike in kit form without the skills to set it up correctly.

So a lot of it depends on your own skills and confidence as a mechanic.

Getting a fully assembled machine that has had a PDI from a dealership at a significant discount may be a better deal than a lower online "flat pack" price.

Very true particularly with machines such as lawn mowers which arrive without engine oil or the wrong size bottle which is common .

I also think of it like the local corner shop - if you really want it to remain, then use it & support it. I use a couple in the main, and so for kit, I ask them to get close to /  match the online price, then I add £15-30 for assembly/pdi in my head. Deal done. Plus I use them for both for maintenance. Seems to work well for all parties in the main.

But, we've got some good local dealers - I suspect a lot to do with plenty of competition.  Not sure what it would look like if they were rubbish.

We don’t actually know what brand and quality of equipment Dan wants to purchase.

I think we are all assuming high end and that is going to limit the availability.

    Hi Dan,

You could check out these guys, they're independant (ie nothing to do with the other HSS) and based in old woking so not a million miles from you.

I used them for quite a few tools before i moved away. One of the cheapest suppliers for me at the time.
