Nikwaki ladder

I was wondering if I could get some advice from someone who has a Nikwaki ladder, I'm a fit strong female gardener but was wondering if I could lift this ladder onto my Frod connect roof, is it light enough or would it need two people. I need a big ladder for hedge cutting that I can get on and off the roof.

I don't have a Nikwaki tripod, but I have both the workware and the henchman tripod ladders which are pretty much the same and I'd say yes they are light enough for you to lift on your own, they are so much lighter to work with than any other ladders I've used, hope this helps a little, cheers Harry

Just looked at the Nikwaki website, the tripod ladders they do are exactly the same as my workware tripod ladders..
• Hi Jessica , yes I have had one for ten years very light weight . Very easy to lift .
Regards Drew.
• Hi Jessica
I expect you are aware but in case you are not a roller can be fitted to the trailing edge of your roof bars. Just rest the ladder against the roller, lift and slide in on. No effort..
You will need to search on the web to try and find a compatable roller system to suit your van and rack.
I could not find one to suit my van so purchased the closest I could find and did some modification.
There is no chance I could lift safely my 12 rung step ladders fitted with a very wide stabiliser leg system onto the roof without it.
Well worth the cost and time to modify.

I've got a 3.6m 3 leg adjustable tripod ladder HPM360 (which I got from Browns Ladders) , and I'd say as Gordon mentioned you would need a roller bar on your roof rack. I've been looking at getting the very thing for myself. Our van is a Citreon Dispatch and I'll probably need a step ladder just fix the ladder to the rack.

The wide step is quite wide, and whilst easy to lift and carry horizontally, more difficult to move to the vertical because of trying to find the 'pivot' point. The 3rd leg has tendency to swing free, in an un-useful way, a clamping bracket would be useful for transportation.

Depending upon how high you want to get, you may find a 10ft 3 leg adjustable may suit, the adjustment / extension is quite a bit for flexibility and of course lighter and easy to move.

Hi Jessica,
Whilst I don't own one, I visited their show room down near me in Somerset to purchase some new secateurs in May and asked to look at the ladders whilst there. I had a look at the 8ft pro grade ones and they are very lightweight indeed, and you should have no issues lifting or carrying them. I'm heading back later in the year to purchase some.
Oh and their customer service is excellent - great little company
