    Interesting the bit about the locksmith. That definitely is a problem to gardeners if we do something too quickly and people think you should be grafting for hours.
  • So true the Locksmith is it in a nutshell, we grow are business, get more efficient better equipment, think it comes down to the old Hrly v price.
    Think we should all do jobs at a price or contracts, pricing so many visits in the year, it's sometimes not easy with the perception of time spent on site giving value.

    • Personally I don't normally take work calls when I'm off. I find most customers are happy to leave a message and quite OK with me calling them back when I'm back in action. I find the job treads all over the weekend anyway what with sharpening stuff,  greasing, typing invoices etc.  There is no question that the work\life balance has tilted the wrong way over the last 25 years or so.
