Hi Harry - I'm yet to use one but I'd suggest the Echo kombi would be worth a look?
I'll be slowly replacng my stihl kombis with echo PAS system.
Hi Harry, hope you're well. I've been using the Shindaiwa combi system for 5 years now. Other than having it and all the attachments serviced annually, I've only ever had to replace one small bit of tubing which cost about £9. In my experience it's been fantastically reliable. Shindaiwa is owned by the Yamabiko corp and they also own Echo so I would expect the Echo systems would be of a similar quality but I don't have personal experience of their combi system though I do have their 40" hedge cutters and they're a delight. One thing though, I don't have the 1m extension pole so not sure if there is one. Hope that's of some use.
Many echo and shindaiwa tools are exactly the same. The multi tool systems look to be the same too? However the echo engine is slightly heavier and slightly more powerful. According to both the UK websites at least (which are built identically)
My echo collection is small but grows every time I need a new tool now. Got a SRM 520 brushcutter 8002 chainsaw and a 185 hedge trimmer ordered. Frankly when comparing it to stihls they are not vastly better or anything but for me its rather awful stihls have such bad vibration and balance (obviously this isnt completly true a stihl fs 460 has the same vibes). Echos also seem a bit better thought out with thicker cables and generally seem a bit better thought out.
