Yep, very frustrating. A photography forum i belong to takes you to the first unread post when you click on the thread title,
I agree, if someone makes a comment on a previous answer, maybe 4 pages back, the comment gets lost.
I know it's frustrating but the tools I have at hand are limited.
You can follow or unfollow a current topic by subscribing to email alerts.
By following a thread you'll get an email when there's a reply. Just click on the link within the email to be taken directly to that reply.
Hey, life's never perfect but you can also 'jump' to the latest post(s) on a thread by taking the 'replied' hotlink in the 'Latest Activity' feed on the front LJN Home Page..
Many miss this by bookmarking the LJN Forum page and landing there....
Sounds perfect, but I can't find it on the homepage? I just get the list of threads, and the "replies" link goes to the beginning.
Strange. If I click the "hot link" for last reply (replied) from the Recent Activity feed on the front page, I get taken to that response, which will be the last response and it briefly shows shaded "Yellow".
As Phil says, the options are limited as discussed late last year. Even PH Forum can't do it fully....you get taken just to the last page
Ahhh, got it. Thanks Gary and Phil.
Perhaps that could be highlighted in a different colour or font? How on earth would anyone know to click that one word if it's all in the same text! Simply circling it in red makes it obvious to an idiot like me.
We've been testing our new forum for about three months no so I do understand how tough it is working within a platform. We have about 30 people testing it, and for every problem we solve another two are found: it's all about compromises.
What we've found is that the small usability issues are causing the most concern. White-space on the forum is the second-biggest issue. We're battling the same awkward layout of narrow vertical columns that we're finding people are feeding back that they hate!
Functionally, It's really not that differerent to the V2 Forum (if you look back).
I think the 'pointers' & differences on how to use the new V3 froum got lost in the 'feedback' late last year.
I think LJN has done well with limited resources and should be applauded. I can only imagine the effort and amount of time invested by Phil et al in taking LJN forward.
