Maximum driveway opening

Does anyone know if there is a maximum driveway opening that is allowed when installing a new dropped kerb? I can't seem to find any information on this.

Someone who drops kerbs for us said there was no limit but another nearby neighbour said their planning application allowed only around a 3.5 metre opening.

I am wondering if there is a standard allowance and then a different allowance in places like Conservation areas.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Why don't you just phone up the council and ask them?.................presumably, they're doing the dropped kerb.

Unfortunately there is no 'just phoning up the coucil' in Bristol. Getting through to the right person is not a simple thing. There are council approved installers here, not the council themselves.
