Linking out - possibly better for you than Page Rank? - Forum

I am a regular reader of Aaron Wall' SEOBook blog and you too would be well advised to bookmark it if you are looking at building a strategy to lever your Internet marketing campaign. This latest post - Outbound Linking For Fun And Profit - is great and it is something that both Craig and I talk about regularly. Linking out to good content is much more valuable to you in your internet marketing campaign than worrying about who is linking to you. I have drawn the analogy before of this network or any other website being the hub of a greater system. The more you link out, the greater returns you get to your own ranking. I look at it from this point of view, writing stuff just to get a link is rather self centred, but finding information that you believe is written accurately for the benefit of others and linking to it serves a greater purpose on the Internet and in time, you will become ranked because you are sniffing out, and linking to, important information that is related to your area of expertise, profession and subject matter. Many many sites, and I have ranted about this endlessly, are damaging their web future by not linking out or not allowing linking from forums etc. I will leave you with this quote from the site but if Internet marketing interests you then pop along and read the whole piece. "Has Google rolled hub analysis into Google? Who knows. Whilst it is generally agreed that linking out currently doesn't have direct ranking advantages, linking out provides a number of marketing benefits that can, in turn, lead to higher rankings."

Craig and yourself are feeding us so much valuable information on 'general stuff' and 'blogs' about website marketing and blogging that I was wondering if it is possible to collate all this information in a specific area. It's great reading but not always acted upon at the time of reading and in my opinion warrants it's own space. This might also make it easier to access at a later date-just a thought.

Great idea V.

I have the ability to filter forum posts and move them to a dedicated classification.
As far as blog posts are concerned, I will have to put my thinking cap on to think of a way of sucking them into their own pool.
