Now being a Chelsea FC fan, for me to take an interest in another team is very unusual :) but credit where credit's dues, as well as winning the Prem League Leicester City Footbal Club ground staff should get some kind of recogniton and award for their stunning pitch designs.

Best associated comment I've seen (as a Chelsea fan) is from The Mirror : "Sad how the Leicester City ground staff have more creativity than the entire United team"

I'm a real fan of the art of mowing and has been discussed before on LJN, with a pointer to great book called "Picture Perfect" from a former US Grounds Keeper, David Mellor.

You have inspired me to get a book on this as I may one day have the time to fart about on one of the pitches I do!!
Git this one as it was available https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0715325779?pc_redir=T1
  • Some top quality work!! Apparently the referres weren't to impressed with the designs

Apparently it is distracting or something?
  • I'm not sure the Allett rm34 would survive on some of my lawns to give the designer stripes a go ;)

Interesting he's using a Honda rotary not just a cylinder mower, I guess just for pick up and making the grass stand tall ?......... that helicopter looks very realistic !! ;0

    • I to noticed the mower choice also.

Still unsure as to why though

Another club renown for their pitches is Southampton and they use similar. It's partly to raise the grass & debris before imparting the stripe (ie with the wieght of the roller).

In fact some while ago after a match there, the grounds staff were straight out on the pitch with those mowers 4 or 5 abreast, so the doing '1 stripe' in one go.

Orgainsed mowing. I loved it :)
