leaf blower vibrations

I have a stihl BG 86 blower but it is quite old, probably about 8-10 years. I have been using it a lot recently as you would expect and have become a bit concerned about the vibrations.  If I bought a brand new leaf blower of a similar model then are the vibrations likely to be significantly reduced?  I had heard that vibration levels in newer machines are a lot lower.

Thanks for any advice

  • We run two and replace after a couple of seasons.  Vibration levels are much reduced with the new machines.

If it uses rubber AV then the rubber is probably in need of replacement.

If it's of interest, there is an offer running today only (tuesday 16th) for a Stihl BG86 reduced to £175 +vat through the company forestandarb.com, they are doing '12 days of christmas' offers:

Vibration and noise reduction have definitely been a focus in newer machines - don't wait 'til it causes you problems! Could be worth asking for a HAVS datasheet if you buy a new one so you have the info :)
