Lawn for a new build house

I've been asked to lay a lawn for a new build house locally, it is built on solid chalk. Bovis have put around 2" of builders spoil on the garden.

Currently I am quoting to put in around 4" of top soil - a good helping of muck dug in - then level and turf it.

Am I overdoing it, or does that sound about right?

Thanks

Adam

If the existing is hard deadpan impermeable then you'll have problems unless you create some vertical drainage cracks / channels or side run-off channels.

If not, what your suggesting is OK, but I'd prefer 6-8".

  • I would agree this sounds ok, but the more the better.
