Labourer

Morning,I'm now looking at taking a labourer on for a couple of hard landscaping projects along with some softwcaping. Probably a couple of days a week at most. My question is do I pay day rate or hourly? I have only ever had guys on day rates.Normally £60-£75 depending on job/skillsWhat do you guys reckon?

Personally I use a day rate. When eventually found a good employee, I had a chat and basically told him we have set things to do in a day, once there done we can go home. However if there rushed the job gets redone. This has worked well for me, also don't get people prolonging jobs as there on an hourly rate.
  • Hi James, also keep in mind that you may need to double check your insurance to include some employers' liability, even if they're only working for a couple of days a week :)
