Karcher Professional power washer problem?

I have a portable Karcher washer and it works fine.

But when I attach the big round disk (FR Expert) with the two nozzles, will not work properly. The machine keeps hiccuping (on off, on off), as if there is something stuck and the water pressure is really low. I took it all apart but just cannot see what the problem is. So instead of being able to use the disk I had to just use the standard nozzle and created a mess, got wet and took much longer. Anyone had a similar problem, and how was it resolved?

Getting fed up that everything seems to be breaking in the last few months.

Sounds like it's not engaging properly so flow rate is wrong and that's causing hiccuping mine was doing the hiccuping thing with the lance it turned out that wasn't on properly.

Don't let the breakdowns get to you!!
Just had a blown head gasket and piston ring go on big mower. Just as the grass is coming back into growth!!
No spares for a month so had to buy new machine to finish season. Will fix broken one over winter.
  • sounds like the nozzles are blocked up if you can remove them try the washer without them and see if the water gets through ok if so try and clean the nozzles with a pin if it will fit

  • It works fine with the lance, just that it takes so much longer than with the cleaning disk.

I will take it apart again tomorrow and have another look. Was getting dark too quickly.

@ Richard, That is bad news, At least now you have a backup mower for the future. That reminds me, I need to call the guys repairing my lawn mower for the last 3/4 weeks, as you say, the season is starting again and I would like my self propelled back.

I know just annoying that's it's broken with only 10-12 weeks left!!
New one is better though Diesel engine which is better for the hydros than the petrol one.
As for your washer it may just be blocked up as David said. The hiccuping is a flow problem somewhere.

Hi Daniela, it sounds to me like the cylinder head has a small crack in it, easy fix, new cylinder head can be bought off espares, about £20 I think, not to difficult to change either if your confidence is good and your happy to take the motor apart, I did mine in about 20 mins...

Just had a thought, a good test to do before you start a strip down of motor, when your jet wash is all connected up, water on, power on , jet wash turned on, what does the motor do, is it completely quiet until you pull the trigger on the jet wash handle? Or does the motor pulsate until you pull the trigger then it continuously runs??? if it's the later then it is the cylinder head...
      • Hi Harry

The machine is OK and works just fine with the lance. It stops working when I attach the round cleaning disk at the end of the lance.

I will take the disk apart over the weekend and hope to resolve the issue.
